The FaceBook Movie seems to have very positive reviews but the question is whether there will be enough support from the visitors to the website. Will they go out and see it or will then just comment about it in the blogs? That is the question that is occupying the minds of the organizers of the event.  The level of success that is enjoyed by the FaceBook Movie will be a direct determinant of the attitudes that the producers have to similar ventures in the future. If it is a flop then they are not likely to attempt the magic any time soon.

The FaceBook Movie had its premiere At the New York Film Festival. It is expected to be available to the general public from the 1st of October 2010. It is a pioneer project in as much as it will be the initial Hollywood movie that is centered upon the process of creating the popular social network. This is an experiment that looks at the different highs and lows of the ultimately successful venture. Perhaps the social networking element will be appealing to young people.

The facts on the FaceBook Movie so far

The reviews of the FaceBook Movie have been very positive so far. They have a one hundred point score on the movie review aggregator known as Meta Critic. The Rotten Tomatoes have given them a score of nine point nine out of ten. The only dangers are that Rotten Tomatoes and Meta Critic are using a rather small sample. Nevertheless it is relevant that the FaceBook Movie is given ratings that are similar to “The Godfather” and “Lawrence of Arabia”. If they can replicate the success of those erstwhile movies, then this will be a very successful project indeed.

Ultimately the FaceBook Movie will have to be judged on the number of people that see it. That Box Office can never be ignored in rating a film. Of course Columbia Picture is really going out with their advertising campaign. Hopefully the annoying trailers will not put people off what might turn out to be one of the great movies of the age. The Mark Zuckerberg audience might come to about five hundred million if the figures are to be believed.  These are people that are loyal to the brand and the directors. They might come out of curiosity or even interest. Given the budget of around $50 million, the potential for profits is just out of this world.

Yahoo! Movies is displaying the movie under the banner known as “The Social Network’ And the Rise of the Terror Nerd”. This website is not particularly user friendly but the quality of the movie itself is not compromised in any way. In some ways this decision is not the best option given the problems that are associated with that website. However the FaceBook Movie promises to be something that is even bigger than the websites on which it is hosted. People that are interested should try it out and see whether the work has been effective.
